Addicks striker on the hunt for new club

Charlton Athletic loanee Simon Makienok is on the lookout for a new club this summer according to News Shopper.

The striker signed for The Addicks on a season long loan from parent club Palermo last summer but the 25 year old Danish international has failed to impress during his time at The Valley.

Despite being under contract with the Italian club until summer 2018, Makienok has admitted that his days as a Palermo player are numbered and the striker is searching for a new club ahead of next season.

Makienok’s uninspiring form for Charlton Athletic this season combined with the club’s relegation to League 1 means that the player is unlikely to return to the South East London club in the future. The striker is also not expected to feature again in Italy and a return to his native Denmark could be the most likely destination.

The Naestved born goal poacher has made 36 appearances during his time at Charlton Athletic but has netted just five times for the club with his last goal coming in a 4-1 away success over Rotherham United at the end of January.

After a disastrous Championship season, Charlton Athletic are set for a huge clear out in the summer themselves as the club look to build a squad capable of winning promotion back to English football’s second tier at the first attempt next season.
