Middlesbrough fans may be forgiven for bemoaning their teams inability to make their advantage count in their last outing against Ipswich. After drawing 0-0 they missed a golden opportunity to go back top of the table above rivals Burnley.
They currently sit in second place and with an away game at Birmingham and their final game being at home against third placed Brighton, they have their automatic promotion destiny very much still in their own hands.
Here are 5 stats which may just ease the tension and give Boro fans cause for optimism.
1.Aitor Karanka has never lost against Birmingham city.
That’s right, the boss has never tasted defeat against the Brum. He has picked up 9 points from 5 meetings with the form reading DWWDD.
2.Under Karanka Boro have never lost on a Friday.
Boro have never lost on a Friday under Aitor Karanka, Boro play Birmingham on Friday evening, enough said.
3.Brighton will play Derby this weekend.
In what many Boro fans see as a potential banana skin for Brighton, Brighton take on Derby County this weekend. Derby will be playing for home advantage in the play-offs and have scored 18 goals losing just 1 in 8 games.
4.Boro v Brighton (Boro not conceded more than one goal at home in last 44 matches).
Boro have an amazing record at home losing just twice all season and conceding the fewest goals in the league. They haven’t conceded more than one in the last 44 matches at home.
5.Burnley v QPR (QPR draw specialists).
QPR are the championship draw specialists and they have only lost 4 out of their last 19 matches.
P.S (Charlton v Burnley, cause as much disruption as possible please Charlton fans!!!)
