This Leeds player has message for fans

When news came through that Jordan Botaka was signing for Leeds United two things happened based on those reports.

Firstly Whites fans hit YouTube, falling in love with his highlight reel and, secondly, Botaka’s Twitter followers grew massively.

However, the DR Congo international  has found game time hard to come by in his first season at Leeds, with him hardly featuring under Steve Evans. In fact, his first appearance in a long time in the Leeds United squad, the 1-0 loss to Premier League Watford in this season’s FA Cup Fifth Round, saw Evans say the tricky winger was only there to make up the numbers.

Fans have rightly wanted to see whether  Botaka, a player with the same FIFA16 5-star skill rating as Lionel Messi, could live up to his highlight reel fame.

Last game, Jordan Botaka got his chance from the bench and put in a solid performance where were signs of spark that the Leeds fans were looking for.

Yesterday, in the 2-2 draw with Hull City, Botaka had a longer run out and showed  a bit more that will encourage Leeds fans somewhat as the season draws to a close. As well as putting on a good display, Botaka’s trickery and quick feet set up Stuart Dallas’ 88th minute equaliser.

That moment resonated with Leeds’ DR Congo international, so much so that Botaka took to Twitter to tweet the following message to Leeds fans.

Leeds’ last home game of the season is next Saturday against relegated Charlton in a match where the activity off the pitch, with elements of both sets of fans entrenched in protests against respective club owners, could very well match the action on it.
