AFC Bournemouth boss set for Reading raid

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe could be set to approach Championship club Reading in the summer over the potential signing of a number of players according to Get Reading.

The 38 year old Cherries boss has attended a number of Reading fixtures in recent weeks increasing speculation that the Premier League club may be interested in signing some of Reading’s key players.

Howe is said to be considering a £3million summer transfer bid for Royals midfielder Oliver Norwood. The Northern Ireland international midfielder has played a key role for Reading this season and despite the club’s uninspiring recent form, Norwood has been one of The Royals’ more consistent performers.

It has been reported that the AFC Bournemouth boss is also tracking Reading pair Jordan Obita and Jake Cooper. Both players are contracted to the Berkshire club until the summer of 2018 and The Cherries are likely to have to offer significant transfer fees to have a chance of securing the players’ services ahead of another tough Premier League campaign next season.

Reading’s on loan Chelsea midfielder Michael Hector could also be a target for the Dean Court club next season. The 23 year old has been tested at Championship and Scottish Premiership levels with Reading and Aberdeen and Chelsea may wish to trial their young defender at Premier League level.

Reading’s disappointing season sees the club sitting in 15th position in the Championship table and any funds received for the transfer of players could be used to help manager Brian McDermott boost his squad ahead of next season.
