Sheff Wed defender should be banned says MK Dons boss

Speaking to Sky Sports, MK Dons manager Karl Robinson believes that Sheffield Wednesday’s on loan left back Daniel Pudil should be ‘banned from football’ after a tackle on winger Jacob Murphy at Hillsborough on Tuesday night.

The match ended 0-0 but tempers increased in the final quarter, including a red card for Wednesday’s Ross Wallace, leaving head coach Carlos Carvalhal too frustrated to speak to the media after the match.

Fernando Forestieri again picked up a yellow card for diving, harshly according to both camps, including Dons boss Robinson.

However it was the challenge of Murphy during a swift counter attack which led to Pudil producing a rash challenge on the Norwich City loanee. Pudil, on loan from FA Cup Semi-finalists Watford, was handed a yellow card by match referee Darren Handley.

Robinson, who also conceded relegation is close to being inevitable, agreed that Forestieri should not have been banned but that Pudil should have seen red and be banned as well,

“The Forestieri situation is disgusting. What a player he is. I applauded something he did in the first half by mistake. Getting booked for that was the second worst decision in the game. The worst one? The tackle by Pudil on Murphy. He needs to be banned from football. That’s the worst tackle I’ve seen. He was out of control.

“There’s ways of going down. We were told we’d be down by Christmas. My chairman, my players and my staff have been incredible.”

Coach Lee Bullen took over post-match press duties for the Owls and revealed his bemusement at the decision to hand Forestieri yet another yellow card for simulation,

“What does Fernando (Forestieri) have to do, just stand there and get kicked? It wasn’t a yellow card. He’s paying for a reputation. It’s getting frustrating because he’s an honest lad.

“It was a late change in referee, it’s a stage of the season where we need as strong a ref as possible. It’s a tough one to be thrown into at this stage.”

Sheff Wed are yet to completely seal a play-off place but MK Dons’ relegation could be officially confirmed this weekend.
