York City finally produced a glittering performance for their fans by beating high flying Portsmouth at Bootham Crescent last night.

The Minstermen raced into a deserved three goal lead with goals from Bradley Fewster, Lewis Alessandra and Luke Summerfield before a goalkeeping error from Scott Flinders handed Pompey’s Gareth Evans a consolation goal.

Newport County’s home draw with Oxford United does now mean that City’s battle for League 2 survival is all but over but after the match York City supporters took to Twitter to give their views on a thoroughly entertaining match.

York City are back in League 2 action on Saturday when they travel to face another promotion chasing club in the form of Accrington Stanley.
