Bristol Rovers linked to rival loanee striker

The Bristol Post reports that Bristol Rovers are being linked with a move for Fleetwood Town striker Jamille Matt. The tall forward has impressed whilst on loan at Plymouth Argyle and Darrell Clarke could look to add the frontman to his squad for next season.

The Memorial Ground club will be hoping to offer League One football next season. The Pirates sit third in League Two, only ahead of fourth-placed Accrington Stanley on goal difference going into tonight’s (Tuesday) round of matches.

It is believed that Ladbrokes Premiership side Motherwell are also monitoring the progress of the 25-year-old. No decision is expected to be made on his future until the season is over. Fleetwood are currently involved in a relegation fight to stay in League One.

Matt sat out the whole of last season because of injury, however he has been making up for lost time in this campaign so far. He was a record signing for Fleetwood when signing from Kidderminster Harriers. Earlier this season he was sent out on loan to Stevenage, before linking up with Plymouth in March.

The Jamaican is out of contract at the end of this season and his future is somewhat up in the air at this moment in time. Currently he is focusing on scoring the goals required to help Plymouth earn promotion into League One. Ironically they are fighting it out with the likes of Bristol Rovers for one of the two remaining automatic promotion spots.
