Carvalhal signs extended Sheff Wed contract

Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that head coach Carlos Carvalhal has signed an extended contract with the Championship play-off hopefuls. Since signing a one-year deal last summer, the Portuguese has transformed the Owls into a promotion-challenging outfit.

Although the length of the contract has yet to be revealed by the South Yorkshire club, it is still a big boost to everyone connected with the club that this news has been announced.

Upon his appointment, chairman Dejphon Chansiri wanted a manager that played an attractive style of play and he clearly hasn’t been disappointed so far.

The Thai businessman expressed his delight at the news that Carvalhal will be remaining at Hillsborough for the foreseeable future,

“I am delighted that Carlos will be staying with Sheffield Wednesday. I am sure our supporters will also welcome this news as Carlos has led a complete overhaul of the style football we play, particularly at Hillsborough.

“The brief was for the team to play exciting, aggressive and entertaining football, which has been delivered.

“I look forward to working with Carlos both now and in the future.”

In addition to Carvalhal extending his stay, coaches Joao Mario Oliveira, Bruno Lage and Jhony Conceicao are all understood to have extended their contracts as well.
