Bolton Wanderers v Middlesbrough – Match Preview

Recently relegated Bolton Wanderers welcome Middlesbrough to The Macron Stadium on Saturday lunchtime for a match which the visitors must win to ensure that they retain top spot in the Championship.

Wanderers have failed to win any of their last 11 Championship matches while Middlesbrough travel to Lancashire on the back on five straight victories.

The home side go into the match with a number of injury concerns. Max Clayton (hamstring), Wellington Silva (groin), Dorian Dervite (ankle) and Gary Madine (hip) are all currently ruled out of action through injury and will not be fit to face table topping Boro. Youngster Oscar Threlkeld could be drafted into the side following a loan spell at Plymouth Argyle.

Middlesbrough arrive at The Macron Stadium with no fresh injury concerns but striker Christhian Stuani is unavailable as he serves a suspension. Manager Aitor Karanka may field the same starting line up as the one which showed true grit in beating Reading with a late goal at The Riverside Stadium in midweek.

Bolton Wanderers face a huge test against a Boro side who have won all of the previous three meetings between the two clubs. In last season’s fixture, Boro won the match 2-1 with a late goal from Kike after Bolton Wanderers had initially taken the lead in the match.
