5 key potential absentees in the Championship this weekend

Alan Judge (Brentford)

It has been a mixed week for Republic of Ireland international Judge. Whilst he was nominated alongside Andre Gray and Ross McCormack for the Championship Player of the Year Award, last Saturday his season was ended after an injury against Ipswich. A robust challenge from Luke Hyam resulted in Judge sustaining a broken leg.

Not only will he miss the rest of the season and potentially the first few months of the next campaign, he is unable to represent his country at Euro 2016 this summer as well. His lose is particularly damaging to Brentford as he is certainly their key player and inspiration.

He has enjoyed his best scoring season of his season, amassing 14 league goals in total. Those include braces against Bristol City, Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town. However he has also assisted a large chunk of their most recent goals as well, so Dean Smith will certainly notice his absence over the next few weeks.

Whilst Smith does have options to replace him, he doesn’t have anyone who can literally replace him in the sense of offering what he can. Earlier this season he was linked with moves away and his injury probably prevents him from leaving any time soon.
