The top 5 right backs in the Championship

Bruno (Brighton & Hove Albion)

At 35 years of age, Bruno is the oldest right back in our list by some distance.  The veteran defender signed for Brighton in 2012 after his contract with Valencia expired in La Liga.  Since then, he has been Brighton’s starting right back and plays every week, despite the gruelling Championship schedule.

So far this season, Bruno has started all 41 of Brighton’s Championship games, and been perhaps their most consistent performer.

The defender also took captaincy of the team in December and has since led his team to third place in the table, four points away from top-of-the-table Middlesbrough.

Bruno is often overlooked; with people instead choosing right backs based on their attacking threat.  Despite Bruno not scoring this season, we feel that as captain of a team third in the table and putting in consistent performances every week, Bruno is one of the top five right backs in the league.
