With third placed Brighton & Hove Albion not in action until Monday evening, Middlesbrough took the opportunity to go four points clear of their nearest Championship automatic promotion challengers with a narrow 1-0 victory over Preston North End at The Riverside Stadium.
The match was evenly contested with both sides having their fair share of possession and goalmouth action but Boro secured an all important victory when Albert Adomah netted the only goal just after the half hour.
Preston North End fought back but were unable to break down the home side’s well organised defence. After their side’s latest victory, Boro fans took to Twitter to give their views on the match and the current league position.
