Peterborough United manager Graham Westley has told his players to find some form or head for the exit, as the 48-year-old looks for a promotion push next season.
After an abysmal showing in their 2-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night, Posh remain 14th and 12 points off the play-offs, in the season they were hoping to return to the Championship.
And the inconsistent performances of a number of Peterborough players has lead Westley to state he will consider the futures of some of his squad, when the League One season comes to its conclusion. “We’ve given lots of players lots of chances to produce the goods.” Westley told the Peterborough Telegraph.
“We now have to make decisions as to who is going help us get to get promoted to the Championship next season.
“It will now be about picking players who need development, who have good reasons to win games, and who have an appetite for success.”
It is expected that the former Preston and Stevenage boss will hand more first team opportunities to January signing Tom Nichols and academy graduate Leonardo Da Silva Lopes.
Westley is averaging 2.5 changes a game, and has named an unchanged side on just four occasions, since joining the club in September.
Callum Chettle, son of former Nottingham Forest defender Steve Chettle, is another youngster who is set to be introduced into the side over the remainder of the season. While Adil Nabi is also set for more game time, after a slow start to life at Posh, having joined the club from West Bromwich Albion earlier this year, also.
