Premier League leaders Leicester City and fellow Premier League side Chelsea are interested in Charlton prospect and Under-18s cpatain Georgie Lapslie according to a report in the Mail Online.
Lapslie is highly-thought of at The Valley, having been nominated as Under-18’s captain, played and scored for the Under-21s (below) and also travelled with first team during this season’s Emirates FA Cup campaign.
Captaining the Under-18s is something of an honour for the young central midfielder, especially as the nominations came from his teammates in a system set up to avoid favouritism. Speaking in an interview on the website risingeast, Lapslie said: “It was an honour to be chosen to captain such a talented team, I was chosen as captain by my team mates. It was a great feeling being chosen by my teammates to be captain. In many ways it’s better than being chosen by the managers, because it is nice to know that they all notice and respect my attitude to work during training, gym and during the match.”
Tha Mail Online also report that the talented youngster has been watched by scouts from Premier League sides Manchester City and Chelsea this season as his profile continues to rise and teams become more aware of the potential that possesses.
However, he remains grounded and fully aware of what the next step up in class involves telling Mail Online: “I’ve come and watched our games since I was a young kid, so I’ve always dreamt and been motivated to work really hard to try and get into the first team. I travelled with the first team to Colchester in the FA Cup and I am hoping for more chances like that to come my way. I am realistic and know that maybe next year is my year to try and push my way in.”
