Millwall v Burton Albion – Preview

As the season is coming to a close, with just eight games for most sides to play, everyone’s making the final push to end the season to be where they want to be.

After losing to Bradford on Saturday, Millwall are only in the Play-Offs by three points, so every point they gain now puts them closer to the promotion they desire. Similarly Burton need all the points they can get to extend their lead at the top of the table.

The last time the two sides met was last December, a Brewers victory of 2-1. Burton had dominated the first half and scored two. The second half was Millwall’s game, with the lions having many chances but with only one goal. The idea of equalizing was finally ended as Beevers received his second yellow, ending the game for the Lions.

Millwall come off of the back of a 1-0 loss to Bradford, another Play-Off contender. The game had little chances and looked to end as a 0-0 draw. This is until substitute Steven Davies found the back of the net, four minutes after he came on. Now its more important for Millwall to get their points, to drop out of the Play-offs now would be horrible for a team that has done so well this season.

Burton’s game against Millwall isn’t the only Burton game to be shown on Sky this Easter weekend. Burton drew 0-0 to stragglers Oldham, who still sit in the relegation zone. It seems that the Brewers have never got a great result in front of the sky cameras, the two others being defeats. They hope to break this trait at the new den so they can extend their four point lead at the top of the table.

Millwall have three players on international duty David Forde, Shane Ferguson and Jimmy Abdou. Burton manager Clough hopes to play Tyler Walker on Monday, after signing him on loan from Nottingham Forest. The England Under-20’s Prospect has returned after playing against the Canada Under-20’s.

With both sides needing the points to sustain their places for promotion into the Championship, Mondays games promises to be entertaining in front of the sky cameras.
