Birmingham City linked with young Chelsea star

Championship promotion hopefuls Birmingham City have been linked with a loan move for Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 18 year old can play in a centre forward role or can also operate in the wing positions and it is understood that Chelsea are desperate for the youngster to gain some first team playing experience away from Stamford Bridge.

Abraham is highly rated by the West London club after already scoring over 20 goals for the club’s development side this season. The striker’s excellent form has resulted in the player being called up to the England Under 19s squad for the European Championship qualifiers.

Birmingham City Manager Gary Rowett is thought to be considering making further loan additions to his side and Abraham could be a target with the club looking for more firepower after recording just two points from their last three league fixtures.

The Blues are currently six points adrift of the Play Off positions in the Championship table although they do boast a game in hand over the sides above them. With just nine league fixtures remaining, Birmingham City have little margin for error and must find their goalscoring touch again if they are to continue to remain in the Play Off picture come the end of the season.
