Hull City defender signs new deal

Hull City central defender Curtis Davies has signed a new two year deal at the club according to the Hull Daily Mail.

The 31 year old joined Hull City in June 2013 from Birmingham City for a transfer fee reported to be in the region of £2.25 million and signed a three year deal at The KC Stadium which was due to expire this summer.

Davies’ future with The Tigers had been in doubt during the January transfer window with Premier League club AFC Bournemouth linked with a summer move for the player but Hull City have now agreed to retain the defender until summer 2018 as The Tigers look to build a squad capable of competing in the top flight.

The centre back has been a crucial member of the Hull City squad this season making 37 appearances in all competitions scoring once. Davies has formed part of a defensive unit which has conceded less goals than any other team in the Championship this season. The player has made 105 career appearances for City to date and has scored six goals for the club.

Davies has plenty of Premier League experience under his belt having played in the division with West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa, Birmingham City and current club Hull City during his career and that experience could be vital should The Tigers gain an immediate promotion back to the top flight this season.
