Peterborough pair called up to international squads

Peterborough United defenders Kgosi Ntlhe and Gabriel Zakuani have both been called up by their countries..

Peterborough United left-back Kgosi Ntlhe has been named in the South African under 23 squad for a friendly match against Brazil later this month.

The Under-23s are preparing to take part in Rio Olympic Games in August later this year, and have arranged a tester against the hosts, which takes place on March 27 in Brazil.

Manager Owen Da Da Gama said on the announcement of the squad: “You can never ask for a better opposition than this. First of all, we will be able to measure ourselves with some of the best players at our level, and secondly we will get a glimpse of what to expect when we return to Brazil for the Games. I am very happy that we were able to secure this all-important fixture.”

Meanwhile, Gabi Zakuani has been named in the provisional DR Congo squad for forthcoming African Cup of Nation qualifying games with Angola.

Zakuani has been named in the 32-man provisional squad for the Group B fixtures at home on 26 March and away in the Angolan capital three days later.

DR Congo are currently second in Group B after a home win over Madagascar and a shock 2-0 defeat at Central African Republic in September. Only group winners are guaranteed automatic qualification to the tournament in Gabon.

The pair will both miss the Good Friday fixture with Coventry City due to the involvement with their respective countries.
