Leeds target wants to be rescued from current club

Leeds United target Kyle Lafferty wants to be rescued from his current club Norwich City, according to a report.

It was widely reported that Leeds wanted to sign the Northern Ireland forward in January but the club failed to agree a deal with Norwich and the deal did not go ahead.

At the time it was reported that Norwich wanted Lafferty to leave the club permanently, whereas Leeds only wanted to take the striker on loan.  Therefore Lafferty didn’t move at all and remains a Norwich City player.

The emergency loan window is open until next week, with clubs looking to do their final business of the season in the transfer market.

Leeds have been in good form recently, winning their last three games in the Championship, after their 4-0 defeat away to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Despite these results, and a return to form for striker Mirco Antenucci, boss Steve Evans may still like to add Lafferty to the squad if he can reach an agreement with Norwich.

Lafferty needs to be playing games in order to be match fit for Northern Ireland at the Euros this summer.  The team have qualified for their first major tournament since the World Cup in 1986 and Lafferty is a regular starter.

Lafferty said: “I just want to play.”
