Nigel Pearson

Pearson favourite for Nottingham Forest vacancy

Former Leicester City and Hull City Manager Nigel Pearson is the early favourite for the managerial vacancy at Nottingham Forest according to Football League sponsors SkyBet.

Forest sacked Manager Dougie Freedman on Sunday after a run of five defeats in six matches with the Midlands club’s shocking 3-0 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend proving to be the final straw for the Board.

Pearson has been out of work since being sacked as Manager of Leicester City following his son’s unacceptable behaviour on a club end of season trip to Thailand. The 52 year old’s son, James Pearson was also sacked following the controversial incident.

Pearson successfully steered The Foxes to Premier League safety last season despite being bottom of the table at Christmas. Leicester City became just the third side in the history of the Premier League to achieve the feat.

Pearson has previously had success in the Championship after winning the division with Leicester City in 2013/2014 and the vacancy at Forest would certainly appeal to the Nottingham born former defender. A whole host of other names are being linked to the vacancy including the likes of Nigel Clough, Neil Lennon, Billy Davies, Garry Monk and Tim Sherwood.

First Team Coach Paul Williams has been appointed Interim Manager until the end of the season with a permanent new Manager likely to be appointed by the end of the current campaign giving them the opportunity to re-shape the squad over the summer.
