Dodoo

Huddersfield in market to loan Leicester striker

TEAMtalk.com understands that Huddersfield Town are lining up a loan move for young Leicester City forward Joseph Dodoo. The 20-year-old is highly regarded at the King Power Stadium, however David Wagner is hoping to prize him away on loan for the remainder of the season.

The youngster made an instant impression with the Foxes earlier this season when scoring a hat-trick on his first-team debut in a Capital One Cup victory over Bury. That impressed Bury enough to sign him on loan, where he scored once in five appearances.

The Terriers are believed to be the only club hoping to sign the talented winger, but they are said to be firmly in the box-seat to bring him to the John Smith’s Stadium.

Dodoo hasn’t threatened for a place in Claudio Ranieri’s very settled starting eleven or even matchday squad at first-team level this season. Clearly he is seen as a prospect for the future and whilst they won’t entertain a permanent sale, they would be open to allowing him move on loan once again. The chance of him testing himself at Championship level for the first time could be appealing to both Dodoo and Ranieri.

The emergency loan window closes on March 24th and Wagner is clearly hoping to bolster his options ahead of the crucial Championship run-in. They still need a few more victories to keep their head above water and avoid being firmly dragged into a relegation battle.

In addition to scoring a hat-trick in the first round of this years Capital One Cup, which was eventually won by Manchester City, Dodoo also scored against Premier League opposition in the form of West Ham United in the next round too. He is clearly a player of some promise and Huddersfield fans could be soon set to witness that for themselves.
