Bristol City identify summer transfer target

Bristol City have already identified one of their summer transfer targets, according to a report.

It is understood that Bristol City boss Lee Johnson wants to return to his former club Barnsley and sign winger Adam Hammill this summer.

Johnson signed Hammill for Barnsley back in November and the winger had a good start to his return to the club, scoring the winner in a Football League Trophy game against York City.

Lee Johnson was appointed as manager of Bristol City at the start of February and the club have been in much better form since his appointment.  Bristol are now five points clear of the relegation places, having spent much of the season close to the bottom of the table.

Johnson won his first two games in charge of the club but will also be disappointed by home defeats by both Brighton and Cardiff.

It seems that the new boss is already looking to next season, identifying Hammill as one of his main transfer targets for the summer window.

Hammill’s deal expires at the end of the season and Johnson will be hoping that the prospect of Championship football can lure the winger away from Barnsley.
