Birmingham selection dilemma – Paul Robinson sympathises

Paul Robinson has spoken out today to the Birmingham Mail about the new-found strength in depth that Birmingham currently have.

It comes after the Blues managed to take all three points against Hull in a 1-0 victory, with on-loan Jon Toral bagging the winner to give his side the points.

Toral though had been out of the starting eleven recently but returned to the squad against Hull alongside Paul Caddis and the two of them played superbly and had a massive impact in the game.

They have surely proven that they should get a bit of run in the side now but with the club having a fair amount of strength in depth now, they could still find themselves not playing.

Club captain Robinson seemed pleased to see his side have so much strength in depth, with players throughout the squad able to come in and make a difference and despite sympathising with his manager, he urged the players to continue to fight for a place in the side and to take the chance when it comes, as they bid to try and climb into the top six.

The win against Hull was a positive result for Birmingham, with the club currently sitting in seventh place, just one point outside the play-off places. The Blues have now won two of their last three and they will be eager to make that three wins out of four next Tuesday, when Gary Rowett’s side take on Blackburn at Ewood Park, with the play-offs now in sight for the club.

Robinson claimed: “Obviously it’s a tough job for a manager to make these decisions. But as a group of players we have to keep ourselves together. We have to keep being positive and when our chances come again we have to take them.”
