Nottingham Forest star man returns to training

Nottingham Forest supporters have received a huge boost with news that star striker Britt Assombalonga has returned to light training according to the Nottingham Post.

The 23 year old goal machine has been out of action for over a year since suffering a serious knee injury in a match against Wigan Athletic last February.

Reports from the club released this afternoon have stated that Assombalonga has taken part in a training session with his team mates and could return to full training by the end of the month. The player could be eased back into action in the final month of the season.

Assombalonga joined Nottingham Forest in August 2014 from Peterborough United for a club record transfer fee said to be in the region of £5 million although the deal could rise up to £8 million. The striker signed a five year deal at The City Ground. The player has impressed at Championship level scoring 15 goals in 32 appearances for Forest.

The striker started his career as a youth team player in Watford’s academy and had successful loan spells at Wealdstone, Braintree Town and Southend United during his time with The Hornets. Despite making just 4 appearances for parent club Watford, Peterborough United broke their club transfer record to sign the striker on a 4 year deal.

Nottingham Forest have had a mediocre season in the Championship with the club sitting in mid table. Manager Dougie Freedman will be hoping for Assombalonga to return to top form next season to help his side mount a long awaited promotion push.
