In a battle between 19th-placed Bristol City and 8th-placed Cardiff, Bristol City defender Mark Little is hoping that the club’s fans will drive them to a ‘large’ performance and three points.
In a game that could see a win putting further distance between them and the relegation pack, Little is hoping that the Ashton Gate fans give the team that extra impetus that will help propel them to all three points.
Derby games often have a hostile atmosphere and Little says that this is true of the game that sees ‘staring neighbours’ across the Bristol Channel pit wits against each other come Saturday’s kick-off.
Speaking of the effect such an atmosphere can have, Little says, “As soon as anyone labels it a derby, you know anything can happen. It wouldn’t come from the players, because I’ve got friends at Cardiff off the pitch, but as soon as you play against them in that cauldron it’s the fans that get you going, and that’s what makes it a derby.”
