Wolves fans set to boycott over ticket prices

Wolverhampton Wanderers will take less than 300 supporters to tomorrow evening’s match at Middlesbrough according to the Express and Star.

As of Thursday morning, Wolves had so far sold just 226 tickets for The Riverside Stadium clash after supporters made a plea to boycott the match in a stance against ticket prices.

Boro are charging Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters £32 to attend the televised fixture with fans housed in a corner of the ground and the move has not gone down well with Wolves fans. Hatherton Wolves independent supporters club have decided to boycott the fixture due to admission prices while a number of other fans and supporters groups have decided against travelling to the fixture with their club’s poor performances and the rearranged Friday night fixture change also contributing factors.

Wolves fans travelling to the match must make a 348 mile round trip from Molineux to The Riverside Stadium. Kenny Jackett’s side have endured a disappointing season which sees the club currently sat in 13th place in the Championship table 12 points off a Play Off spot. Last weekend’s 2-1 home success over Derby County was the club’s first win in 8 league matches.

Relations between the fans and the club’s hierarchy have become strained in recent weeks with the fans’ frustrations resulting in criticism being fired in the direction of want away Owner Steve Morgan and Chief Executive Jez Moxey.
