Brentford defender may miss rest of season

Brentford defender Maxime Colin may miss the rest of the season through injury, according to the BBC.

The 24 year old has a groin injury.

He has not played since The Bees 3-1 defeat by Derby County on 20 February and may require surgery to solve the issue.

Brentford boss Dean Smith told BBC Radio London: “He’s been to a consultant and has had injections that we hope can cure him.”

“If not, it might be the surgical route, which we’re hoping not because that might cross him out for the rest of the season.”

The news would be a blow to The Bees, although Alan McCormack is close to a return after two months out with a calf problem.

Scott Hogan, the striker who has been out injured since August 2014, also scored on his return to action in an Under 21 game against Crystal Palace this week.

Brentford are currently 14th in the Sky Bet Championship, with 43 points from 34 games.
