Boro captain to miss Wolves game

Middlesbrough captain Grant Leadbitter will miss his sides clash with Wolves through injury, Boro have confirmed.

The midfielder suffered a hamstring injury in Boro’s 2-1 defeat at Blackburn on Tuesday evening.

Boss Aitor Karanka has now confirmed that he will not be fit to feature as Boro host Wolves on Friday night.

Leadbitter had only just returned to the side from a two match suspension and had to be replaced by Adam Clayton in the early minutes of the second half at Ewood Park.

Centre back Daniel Ayala is also still out injured, with Aitor Karanka refusing to put a timescale on the Spaniards return.

The news is a bitter blow to Boro, who are chasing promotion from the Championship.

The Teeside club currently lie third in the second tier, with 64 points after 33 games.

They are behind Hull, who are in second place, on goal difference and are one point off table topping Burnley, with a game in hand.
