Aitor Karanka is keeping the faith in his Middlesbrough side, and believes that they are now in a better position to achieve promotion in comparison with last season.
Boro missed out on the chance to go top of the Championship table on Tuesday night, after losing 2-1 to Blackburn Rovers.
The promotion contenders have struggled in recent weeks, dropping points in six of their last ten games. Wins against Fulham, Cardiff, Brentford and Derby are the club’s only wins in 2016.
Speaking before his side face Wolves on Friday night, Karanka told Middlesbrough’s club website that “Tuesday was another game less. We’re in a good position.
“Last season we were worse off than we are now. We have a good game against Wolves on Friday so I’m calm because I trust this squad and we have to keep going.
“I would like to have had a game on Wednesday but I have to prepare as well as I can to win the game on Friday.”
A win against Wolves could briefly see a return to the top of the Championship for Middlesbrough. Hull City are in action against Birmingham on Thursday night and Burnley face Blackburn in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.
