Steve Bruce excited about Thursday night football

Steve Bruce is optimistic that his first experience of Thursday Night league football will be a positive one.

Bruce takes his Hull City side to St Andrews to face Birmingham, in a fixture being played in front of the live television cameras and is hoping to see his side secure a third away league win in a row.

“We’re preparing for a Thursday night game, which is unusual,” said Bruce.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had a game on a Thursday night during the normal season before, but we’ll be ready for it.
“We know we’re capable of going away from home and getting something. We’ve been to Ipswich and we’ve been to Blackburn and we’ve been to a few others recently and got results.
“Sometimes when you’re away from home, the home teams come out and go on the offensive against you, which can help us.
“We’re looking forward to the challenge that Birmingham will offer.”
Bruce is also confident his side can rediscover their attacking fluidity. The Tigers have scored only once in their last four games in all competitions, but the boss knows that his players have got what it takes to fire once again.
“We’ve kept clean sheets, but we haven’t been able to score a goal in our last two at home,” added Bruce.
“It’s been a little bit frustrating because we’ve done enough in terms of creating the chances but we haven’t taken them.
“But let’s not forget that we’ve played against some good teams recently. We were dominant in the second half against Sheffield Wednesday last Friday and if anybody was going to win, it was going to be us.”
