Oxford United v York City – Match Preview

League 2 automatic promotion chasers Oxford United will be looking to record their first home league victory of 2016 this evening when they play relegation haunted York City at The Kassam Stadium.

While The U’s have been in superb form on the road of late, Michael Appleton’s side have struggled when playing in front of their own supporters and have lost their last 2 home fixtures against Northampton Town and Accrington Stanley.

United could welcome back star man Kemar Roofe for this evening’s clash following the midfielder’s recovery from a groin injury while skipper Jake Wright could also return if needed.

Striker Ryan Taylor continues to be sidelined with a groin injury and John Lundstram and Sam Long are also on the club’s injury list.

York City winger Michael Coulson is expected to return to action after recovering from a groin problem but on loan Newcastle United defender Lubo Satka is not expected to travel after picking up an ankle injury.

City boss Jackie McNamara has confirmed that veteran goalkeeper Michael Ingham will retain his place in the side but a number of outfield changes are expected with Bradley Fewster, James Berrett and Kenny McEvoy all pushing for recalls.

The match promises to be an entertaining encounter with both sides in desperate need for three points.
