Burton Albion midfielder extends Oldham Athletic stay

Burton Albion midfielder Matty Palmer has had his one month youth loan at Oldham Athletic extended until the end of the season according to the Burton Mail.

This comes after Saturday’s announcement of the signing of Leicester City’s Hamza Choudry, an unexpected signing that also plays midfield and causing Clough to remark, “it seems daft to bring him back just to sit him on the bench”.

Palmer has been a popular player at Burton, coming through the youth system, and receiving his first team debut in late 2012. He has played over 100 games in all competitions. Before joining the Latics on loan in January, he played 13 for the Brewers this season, including the first round of the capital one cup at Bolton, where he scored the late winner.

While at Oldham, Palmer has played 7 games, receiving two Man-of-the-Match awards and being featured on the Football League One ‘Team of the Week’. This loan extension will mean that Latics Manager John Sheridan can play Palmer in the tough home tie to Port Vale.
