Sheffield Wednesday continued their push for promotion to the Premier League on Friday evening securing a credible goalless draw with Hull City at The KC Stadium.
Both sides had chances to win the match with Sam Clucas and Curtis Davies going close for the hosts and Fernando Forestieri was a whisker away from scoring for Wednesday before his dismissal in stoppage time for an alleged second bookable offence for diving following a challenge by Tigers defender Michael Dawson.
With another valuable Championship point in the bag, a number of disgruntled Owls fans took to Twitter to give their views on the match’s main talking point, the dismissal of their star striker Forestieri.
So snodgrass dives. No booking. Forestieri fouled, gets sent off. Discuss. @thefa. Pathetic. #swfc

Shocking referee decision for FF. Dawson apologized for the foul. How can refereeing standards like that be a acceptable ? #swfc

Don't know how many times I've said about players having to jump out of the way of dangerous tackles. The recklessness is the foul #swfc

That referee should apologise for that rubbish decision to send FF off. FA need to do something. Really poor. #swfc

Dear @FA. Please tell me why referees can't be interviewed after a game following decisions which the whole world can see is wrong? #swfc

The striker’s second dismissal in a week means that Forestieri will miss The Owls next two matches against Rotherham United and Brighton & Hove Albion unless Wednesday lodge a successful appeal against last night’s dismissal.
