Hull City boss hails forgotten man Powell

Hull City Manager Steve Bruce has paid tribute to on loan Manchester United star Nick Powell after the player made his debut for The Tigers in Saturday’s goalless draw at Arsenal according to the Hull Daily Mail.

The former England Under 21 midfielder joined Manchester United from Crewe Alexandra in July 2012 in a deal reportedly worth up to £6 million but his Old Trafford development has been halted by a number of injury problems.

The 21 year old made his first competitive start for 544 days at The Emirates Stadium on Saturday and Hull City Manager Steve Bruce could immediately see the quality which Powell brings to his promotion chasing side.

“There’s no doubt about it. You can see his talent straight away can’t you?” Bruce admitted when speaking to the Hull Daily Mail.

“That’s his first game in 18 months and he looked as though he played with a smile on his face. He takes the ball well, he’s a fantastic athlete and a really good footballer.”

“I would love to make the move permanent right at this minute if I possibly could because he’s the type of player you can build your club around.”

Powell joined Hull City on transfer deadline day on a loan deal until the end of the season. The Tigers could face a battle to land the youngster on a permanent basis with the player understood to be well liked by the backroom staff at parent club Manchester United.
