Cohen “delighted” to extend contract at Nottingham Forest

The extension will mean the midfielder will have spent 10 years of his playing career at City Ground, an outstanding achievement for both club and player.

The 28-year old returned to the squad in January after being out for 15 months following an injury (knee).

Having captained the club in previous years, Cohen has proved himself as an invaluable player to the Forest over his time at the club.

In his first season at City Ground, Cohen was present for all but 5 league games, helping the club achieve automatic promotion to the Championship.

He has also won Forest player of the year twice, being made club captain in 2013.

Despite hinting his desire to make 500 appearances for the club, Cohen has experienced three serious knee injuries within his career, the last ruling him out for over a year.

However, the versatile player is back on his feet and has now racked up 237 appearances for the club making him a firm fan favorite.

On his return to the team in January, his appearance was greeted with huge cheers from the crowd.

On the extension, Cohen has said, “I’m delighted. As predictable as it may sound, since I first started playing football I always wanted to stay at a club for ten years. I wanted to have a testimonial somewhere.”

“It’s been a crazy journey. We’ve come so close to the Premier League a couple of times and I’ve had to come back from injuries. The amount of support I’ve had from the club, the chairman especially, has made me desperate to stay.

“As I’m sure the club will agree, these negotiations were very easy. I really couldn’t be happier and tonight I’ll celebrate with my wife and little boy.”
