Brentford midfielder signs contract extension

Brentford midfielder Nico Yennaris has agreed a new three year deal with the West London club according to Get West London.

The 22 year old former Arsenal academy graduate was understood to have opened contract talks with Brentford last week with his current deal set to expire in the summer however it has now been confirmed that the player will remain at Griffin Park until the summer of 2019.

Yennaris made just four appearances for former club Arsenal and was loaned out to Notts County and AFC Bournemouth during his time at The Emirates Stadium. In January 2014 the player joined Brentford on a two and a half year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The youngster initially struggled to impress at Griffin Park making just 11 appearances for The Bees in his first 18 months at the West London club. With the midfielder out of favour at Brentford, Yennaris joined Wycombe Wanderers on loan in February last year and helped the club reach the League 2 Play Off Final where they were defeated by Southend United.

Since returning to Griffin Park, Yennaris has broken into the Bees First Team and has appeared more regularly for the mid table Championship club in recent months prompting to club to offer the player a new deal.
