Bruce aiming to open the gap

Hull City Manager Steve Bruce wants his side to open the gap at the top of the Championship with victory over fellow promotion hopefuls Brighton & Hove Albion at The KC Stadium this evening according to the Hull Daily Mail.

Second placed Middlesbrough could only record a goalless draw against Leeds United at Elland Road last night meaning that victory for The Tigers this evening would push Bruce’s side four points clear of Boro at the top of the Championship table.

Hull City recorded an excellent 2-0 victory at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday and Tigers boss Bruce is looking forward to another exciting night on home soil.

“It should be a cracking night, a mouthwatering game,” Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail. “Let’s hope we can fill the place and make it a great atmosphere.”

“We know what a big opportunity it’ll be to put a bit of daylight between us and those teams in the play-offs.”

“Let’s enjoy the pressure of this. Pressure is when you can’t pay your bills at the end of the month. This should be enjoyable. It’s a football match when we’re top of the league. Let’s enjoy that.”

“I’m sure the supporters went home happy from Blackburn and that’s what it’s all about. Let’s hope we can make them happy again.”

With third placed Burnley not in action this evening, Hull City can put six points between themselves and the Play Off positions giving the club clear daylight in the promotion race ahead of a tough run of fixtures.
