Bristol City boss analyses squad in Nandos

New Bristol City Manager Lee Johnson has admitted to discussing details of his squad with Assistant Manager John Pemberton in a branch of Nando’s according to The Bristol Post.

Johnson was appointed Manager of The Robins on Saturday and the former Barnsley and Oldham Athletic boss is currently still getting to grips with his new job ahead of his first match in charge against high flying Ipswich Town at Ashton Gate this weekend.

Johnson and Pemberton went on a scouting mission on Tuesday evening to watch MK Dons’ 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough at Stadium MK. With Johnson still learning about his players, The Robins boss sat down with Pemberton in Nandos on Tuesday evening to question his Assistant about his new squad.

“It’s been a really busy week and everything has been a bit of a whirlwind. I’ve had to fit things in as and when I can and Tuesday was no different” Johnson explained when speaking to The Bristol Post.

“I travelled up to watch MK Dons play and took Pembo with me. We popped into the Nando’s outside the stadium and had a good chat about the players and the squad generally.”

“I was able to pick his brains and find out the things I needed to learn. We watched a few videos and managed to look at goals conceded and goals scored. It helped me to build a mental picture.”

“We even had time to have some chicken before the game!”

Bristol City play MK Dons at Stadium MK a week on Saturday with the two clubs currently separated by The Dons’ superior goal difference.
