Ben Pringle

Ipswich to sign Fulham winger on loan

East Anglian Daily Times understands that Championship play-off chasers Ipswich Town will sign Fulham midfielder Ben Pringle on a 93-day loan. The ex-Rotherham winger has been out of favour at Craven Cottage, and Mick McCarthy needs cover after a hamstring injury to Ryan Fraser.

McCarthy was said to be interested in the 26-year-old when his Rotherham contract expired last summer, but the Newcastle-born man elected to move to the Cottagers, who were then managed by Kit Symons.

This weekend’s defeat away to Queens Park Rangers came at a cost for Ipswich and McCarthy. Deep into added time, Bournemouth loanee Ryan Fraser was stretchered off with what seemed to be a fairly serious hamstring problem. His condition will become much clearer tomorrow, but the fact McCarthy is signing a similar replacement suggests the news is not too positive.

The Tractor Boys has been linked with the signing of free agent Lloyd Dyer, however that move will now not take place. His Watford contract was terminated by mutual consent last week, allowing him to move to another club in the remainder of the season as free agents can move at any time. However talks have since broken down, meaning the 33-year-old will now be moving to Portman Road.

Jokanovic has a very large squad at his disposal at Craven Cottage and is said to be keen to trim that down by allowing players to leave on loan during this emergency loan window. Pringle is expected to sign for Ipswich in time for him to be considered for selection in their weekend clash away to Bristol City.
