Fake ‘resignation’ document stirs up suspicion at Charlton

Charlton Athletic have been given cause for concern after a ‘resignation’ document supposedly signed by chief executive Katrien Meire has been identified as fake.

Earlier this month, the club was shocked to receive the news that the Companies House had approved the termination of Meire’s role.

The 31-year-old was appointed chief executive of the Addicks after a friendly email saw her hiring in September 2014.

Since her assignment, Meire, alongside owner Roland Duchâtelet, has caused upset and controversy amongst the fans.

Most recently Meire referred to the fans as ‘customers’ which enraged the Addicks supporters.

The Championship side have become even more shocked after finding out the paperwork, which was submitted in December, is in fact fake.

A statement on the club website has said, “The club is aware of a document that has appeared on Companies House. This document is false and the club is investigating the matter as it is something we take seriously.”

An investigation is currently taking place to identify the culprit (thought to be a fan) who forged the signature.

To add to the drama unfolding at the club, Charlton currently sit at the bottom of the Championship and are settling into their third management shift this season after José Riga took over the club in January.

The fans are still strongly against the owner and things set to worsen for the club if they stay put in a relegation position.
