Young Dons ready for glamour Chelsea tie

AFC Wimbledon’s Under 18s side face their biggest match of the season at Kingsmeadow tomorrow evening as they face Premier League giants Chelsea’s Under 18s side in the Fifth Round of the FA Youth Cup.

Over 2,500 advance tickets have been sold for the youth fixture with many more fans expected to pay on the evening to watch the League 2 club’s stars of tomorrow try to cause a huge upset against a Chelsea side which has seen endless investment during the Roman Abramovich era.

AFC Wimbledon go into the match in superb form with Mark Robinson’s side winning all of their their last 6 matches. Since the senior side gained promotion to the Football League in 2011 the club have benefitted from seasonal Football League funding towards their youth academy and the future of the club now looks very rosy following the success of their Under 18s side this season.

AFC Wimbledon beat non league sides Woking and Ebbsfleet United in the First and Second Round’s of the FA Youth Cup before causing their first upset in the Third Round when they beat Watford on penalties at Vicarage Road. The young Dons’ giant killing didn’t end there with the side going on to record a famous 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at St James Park in the Fourth Round.

Tomorrow night’s match kicks off at 7.05pm and fans of both clubs can pay on the night with admission prices set at £5 for Adults and Concessions and £2 for Under 18s.
