Derby County boss does not fear the sack

Derby County Manager Paul Clement admits that he is feeling the pressure at The IPro Stadium but does not fear the sack according to the Derby Telegraph.

The Rams recruited well over the summer and were one of the pre season favourites to gain promotion to the Premier League but after a promising start to the season Derby County have faltered in recent weeks and have now gone 7 matches without a win.

Derby County have failed to win a league match since recording a 2-0 home victory over Fulham on Boxing Day and Manager Paul Clement has become under pressure in recent weeks from a number of frustrated supporters. Despite feeling the pressure of the Championship promotion race, Clement has insisted that he does not fear the axe.

“I feel like I’ve got the support (of people at the club),” Clement told the Derby Telegraph after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Fulham.

“Everyone involved is disappointed at the current run of results – that’s the club, that’s me and that’s also the players.”

“Of course there is pressure. There’s pressure on every Manager in this league and every Manager throughout football, in every game you play. It is part and parcel of what we do.”

“My focus is on improving the team, getting performances out of the players, and I’m just going to keep continuing to do that.”

Former Real Madrid Assistant Manager Clement left the Spanish giants in May after Manager Carlo Ancelotti’s sacking at the Bernabeu and was appointed Manager of Derby County just days later.

The Rams’ next match is against struggling MK Dons at The IPro Stadium on Saturday.
