Leeds boss Steve Evans on Forest style of play: “I’d rather watch paint dry.”

Leeds boss Steve Evans has criticised Nottingham Forest’s style of play, after his side slumped to a disappointing 1-0 loss at home to The Reds.

Speaking to TV Yorkshire, Evans made negative comments about how Forest set up to play throughout the game.

When asked about how Nottingham Forest set up at Elland Road on Saturday, Evans commented:

“It’s difficult when you’re playing against ten or eleven men who camp behind the ball.

“I’d rather watch paint dry.”

Evans hasn’t hidden away from the fact that his side have struggled to score goals, with Leeds currently the second lowest scoring side at home in the Championship. However, the Leeds boss sharply outlined that he would not be reckless in the loan market.

“We’re not going to be reckless and just pay amounts of money for a player, or wages for a player, that is out of sync with what this football club is about, or this football club will end up in the dark days where it was before.”

High-profile Ivorian midfielder Souleymane Bamba could only make the bench today, having suffered a calf strain injury during Leeds’ FA Cup victory over Bolton last week. Bamba hasn’t made a league appearance for Evans’ side since The Whites’ 1-1 draw with MK Dons on 2nd January.

When asked how Bamba responded to not being included in the starting lineup, Evans quipped:

“I didn’t ask.”

“That’s his problem, his performances need to dictate that he should be in the team

“I might not be the best manager they’ll ever play for in the dressing room, but I’ll be the most honest manager, if they deserve to play, they play.”
