Fulham ready to build team around McCormack

Fulham Manager Slavisa Jokanovic has confirmed that he will look to build his team around star striker Ross McCormack according to Get West London.

The West London club have received significant interest in their prized asset during the January transfer window but McCormack made the decision to stay at Craven Cottage and signed an extension to his current contract.

With the Glasgow born striker now committed to The Cottagers until the summer of 2019 Manager Slavisa Jokanovic will now focus on signing quality players to play alongside the Scotland international.

“Now everything is calm (after the transfer window). Ross McCormack is our key player and we will build a team around him for the future,” Jokanovic told Get West London.

“He is the best striker in the league and if we decide to sell him, then it would be hard to replace him with something we have right now in our hands.”

“I spoke with him, and Ross is more calm and concentrated, and our job is looking to the future.”

The striker joined The Cottagers from Leeds United in July 2014 for a transfer fee reported to be in the region of £11 million. McCormack enjoyed an excellent first season at Fulham scoring 19 goals in 51 appearances whilst also contributing 11 assists.

The striker has been just as effective this season netting 17 goals in just 30 appearances for The Whites and his exceptional form has attracted the attention of Premier League clubs Norwich City and AFC Bournemouth and Championship promotion chasers Middlesbrough and Derby County.

With The Whites not yet out of the relegation picture the club will be hoping for some inspired performances from McCormack in their upcoming matches.
