Slade unsure if he’ll be at Cardiff next season

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has told WalesOnline that he is unsure if he will remain at the Cardiff City Stadium next season. His contracts expires this summer and there has been no talk of being offered an extension by the club.

A section of supporters haven’t been entirely convinced by Slade’s performance in the role, although many do praise him for his work in significantly reducing the wage budget with the Welsh club.

The 55-year-old is certainly well experienced in the game, having started out in management back in the mid-90s. However he couldn’t provide any clarification on what the immediate future might hold for him. He said that it looks as though no talks over his contract will take place until the season is over,

“No, I’ve not started negotiations about a new contract.

“We will talk about that when we are ready, but there’s no problem with that at all. We’ve got games coming up thick and fast. I’m quite happy if we sit down at the end of the season, take stock and see where we are that’s fine.

It’s in our interests to see how we progress over the new few weeks. It could possibly be in the summer.”

Perhaps it could be a case of the Cardiff hierarchy essentially waiting until the end of the season to see where the Bluebirds finish in the table. Perhaps they are scoring the managerial market to look for a potential replacement. They will certainly cover all bases, but for now, all matters are focused purely on the pitch at the moment. Slade seems happy for that to be the case.
