Leeds United join two Championship clubs in pursuit of Middlesbrough striker

According to Journalist James Marshmen on Twitter, Leeds United will join both Brighton and Wolves in the pursuit of Middlesbrough’s Spanish forward Kike if Boro manage to sign Jordan Rhodes.

The 26 year-old attacker is firmly in demand and has been a star player at the Riverside Stadium since his move to England in 2014.

Starting his career with Spanish third tier side Murcia, Kike spent seven years with the Paprika-men (yes, that’s actually their nickname!), playing close to 150 games and scoring an impressive 48 goals.

After impressing with his performances in his home land, the former Spanish U20 International was snapped up by Middlesbrough in the summer of 2014 for a fee of £2.7 million.

Since his arrival, Kike has gone on to play over 50 games and score 15 goals for Boro, helping them to the Championship play-offs at the end of the 2014-15 season.

In 24 appearances for Middlesbrough this season, the forward has scored four goals and contributed one assist.

Leeds, Wolves and Brighton will all be hoping the striker becomes available and can help them all in their bids for promotion to the Premier League.
