Leeds end interest in striker

Leeds United have ended their interest in Barnsley striker Sam Winnall, reports Rob Staton.

The BBC Radio Sheffield journalist has tweeted that he ‘understands’ that Leeds no longer have an interest in the striker.

They had a £300k bid for him rejected earlier in the window.

The 25 year old striker has 16 goals for The Tykes this season and had been linked with a move to Elland Road after a stunning run of recent form.

However, it is now reported that Leeds will not go back in for him after their initial bid was turned down, with Head Coach Steve Evans angry about how their offer was dealt with.

He said: “There’s been some insulting comments come out of South Yorkshire about our bid. We thought it was in confidence.”

The news now opens the possibility of Leeds moving for another striker before tonights 11pm deadline, with the club looking to bring someone in to support Chris Wood.
