Bradley Dack

Ipswich linked with £2million bid for League One star

It is being reported through several sources, including journalist Simon Austin, that Championship play-off chasers Ipswich Town have made a big of £2million to sign highly-rated Bradley Dack from League One title contenders Gillingham.

Tractor Boys boss Mick McCarthy said earlier today that he didn’t expect to be busy later today ahead of the 11pm transfer deadline. However that may have been a little kidology from the former Republic of Ireland boss. Only time will tell.

Dack, 22, has played over 100 times for the Gills since making his debut in August 2012. Last season and the beginning of this season has seen his form step up to another level. This has attracted the attentions of higher league clubs, with Bristol City having a few bids rejected earlier this season.

Recently Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh said that he had spoken to Dack who informed him that he wants to remain with the club, certainly for the rest of the season at least. However if they club received a bid in the region of £2million, perhaps it would be in their best interests to sell from a financial aspect.

It remains to be seen if the bid was sanctioned, and if it was, will Gillingham sell. Nevertheless, he is clearly a player in-demand and is set for a very bright future, arguably at a much higher level than League One.
