Leeds set to miss out on Italian striker signing

Tutto Mercato Web understands that Leeds United are set to lose out in the race to sign Sassuolo striker Antonio Floro Flores. His former club, Genoa, are expected to re-sign him later today, meaning Leeds United, Steve Evans and Massimo Cellino will focus their attentions elsewhere.

Last night it was revealed that the Elland Road club had expressed an interest in signing the player, however any chance of him being lured to Yorkshire appear to be thinning more and more by the hour. It is believed that Cellino identified Floro Flores as a possible signing, but the player looks like remaining in Italy and remaining in Serie A.

The 32-year-old Italian striker is certainly no stranger to Genoa, having previously played for the club in two separate spells. With the exception of a loan move to Granada in 2012/13, the player has spent the whole of his career in Italian football.

The five-cap Italy Under-21 international is best known for his spell with Udinese, where he played over 100 matches, scoring just less than 30 goals. He has played his football with Sassuolo since signing from Genoa in September 2013. He now looks set for another deadline day move, however Leeds will look to other targets to try and add to their squad ahead of the 11pm deadline later tonight.
