Charlton Athletic join race to sign Arsenal youngster

Charlton Athletic are set to make an offer to loan Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry until the end of the season according to News Shopper.

The 20 year old joined Arsenal’s Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion on a season long loan deal in the summer but has failed to make an impact at The Hawthorns making just 3 appearances for The Baggies. Gnabry will now end his loan spell with the West Midlands club and is set to join a Championship club on loan for the remainder of the season with Charlton Athletic favourites to secure his signature.

It is understood that Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger is keen to send the young winger to The Valley to gain some first team experience after fellow Gunners team mate Francis Coquelin had a successful spell with The Addicks in 2014 and went on to become an Arsenal regular upon his return to The Emirates Stadium.

Gnabry graduated through the academy system at Arsenal and has made 18 appearances for The Gunners scoring once prior to his loan move to West Bromwich Albion. The Stuttgart born winger has also represented Germany at Under 16 to Under 21 levels.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has challenged the youngster to compete for a First Team place at the North London club next season upon his return from his loan spell. Should the winger’s move to Charlton Athletic not materialise it is understood that Brighton & Hove Albion may also be interested in loaning the player.
